“The epic action of “Edge of Tomorrow” unfolds in a near future in which an alien race has hit the Earth in an unrelenting assault, unbeatable by any military unit in the world. Major William Cage (Tom Cruise) is an officer who has never seen a day of combat when he is unceremoniously dropped into what amounts to a suicide mission. Killed within minutes, Cage now finds himself inexplicably thrown into a time loop-forcing him to live out the same brutal combat over and over, fighting and dying again…and again. But with each battle, Cage becomes able to engage the adversaries with increasing skill, alongside Special Forces warrior Rita Vrataski (Emily Blunt). And, as Cage and Rita take the fight to the aliens, each repeated encounter gets them one step closer to defeating the enemy.” (C) Warner Bros
I have been very excited to see Edge of Tomorrow. I thought the premise was exciting and I really like Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt. My husband and I both really enjoyed Edge of Tomorrow.
There were a lot of things we liked about this movie. We loved the storyline. We thought it was fun that Tom Cruise’s character kept repeating his day trying to figure out a way to defeat the aliens trying to take over the world. The movie also has a lot of great action scenes. The movie and storyline was always moving. There was never a dull moment.
The acting in this movie was great. Tom Cruise does not disappoint in his performance. He has many action scenes and also provides some of the comedic relief in the film. It really shows that Tom Cruise can really carry such action packed films. For me, the big surprise was Emily Blunt’s performance as Rita. I am used to seeing Emily Blunt in chick flicks. It was fun to see her as a tough and very believable action star. I hope she does more movies like this in the future.
I do not remember there being a lot of rough language in this film but it is pretty violent and deserves its PG-13 rating. I did view this film in 3D. It was fun to see in 3D but I do not think this is a movie that’s needs to be seen in 3D. If I view it again in theaters, I will probably just see it in regular 2D. This would be a great date night movie for mom and dad, it is not a kid movie.
Edge of Tomorrow was a great movie and I can recommend it.
