Now that the weather is turning warm (finally!) we are spending most of our days outside in the sunshine! One thing that I suffer from is allergies, especially when winter turns to spring. I don’t want my girls having to suffer from Allergies either, that’s where Dreft saves the day! Spring brings blossoms out but that also brings more allergens and rising temperatures can bring out the irritation in babies skin. My girls all have sensitive skin and that’s why I use Dreft to wash all of their clothes. I love that Dreft is hypoallergenic and gentle on my girls skin.
Parker has really loved going outside, especially since using Dreft of course! I love that it’s gentle on her skin and it’s hypoallergenic. “Dreft is the No. 1 baby laundry detergent choice of pediatricians to be gentle and hypoallergenic on baby’s skin. Trusted for over 80 years, Dreft comes with a baby scent beloved by moms, and it remains safe and hypoallergenic for baby.” (Dreft website)
Dr. Dyan Hes has some great tips on keeping babies skin healthy this Spring and Summer!
- We need to make sure that we are covering our babies 6 months and older with lots of sunscreen to protect their skin, and don’t forget their hat and sunglasses! Another idea would be to help them stay out of the sun during those peek hours of 10-4pm. If your baby is younger than 6 months make sure to dress them appropriatly and keep them in the shade.
- Another great tip is to make sure our kiddos are hydrated! Keep giving babies those bottles or having them nurse. Our older kids need to be drinking lots of liquids throughout the entire day, inside and outside! And we can’t forget those yummy fruits, veggies and smoothies!
- “Make bath-time beneficial: Over exposure to water can actually rob skin of natural moisture.Scaling back on tub time will help avoid resulting itch — about 10 minutes is plenty of time for water play and a quick scrub. Use warm water (vs. hot) and leave the suds to the very end. Use a mild cleanser to keep skin soft and itch-free. Gently pat skin dry and end with an after-bath moisturizer to seal in moisture and protect baby’s soft skin.” (Press Release)
