I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for Boys & Girls Club of America. I received a promotional item to thank me for my participation.
As parents we are so influential to our children. They look to us to teach them, guide them, inspire them, and motivate them. That is why it is important to teach our children healthy habits so they learn how to have a healthy lifestyle.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of America have a healthy lifestyles program called Triple Play. Through this program BGCA along with their partners: Coca-Cola and Anthem Foundation, aim to lower the rate of childhood obesity in the nation’s youth. Did you know that 3 out of 10 children in the US are either obese or overweight? It is very important that kids and youth get at least 60 minutes of physical activity each day. Unfortunately only about one quarter of youth ages 12-15 are getting that.
Since Triple Play launched in 2005, they have made almost 10 million connections with kids, teaching them that proper nutrition and physical activity is important, by focusing on Mind, Body, and Soul.
BGCA has a great Triple Play Parent Game Plan that you can download so you can teach your kids the important healthy lifestyle skills and knowledge. I love all of the great information and activity ideas they have in this plan. It really makes it easy and fun to teach your kids how to get healthy and stay healthy there whole lives.
We decided to have some fun and get our bodies moving. In the soul section of the Triple Play Parent Guide there are activities to have fun, strengthen relationships, and increase confidence. We decided to try some of them out. So we cleared out the family room to make space for all the fun.
First up, we played the classic game of musical chairs. This is a timeless game and my kids loved playing it. It was my 3 year old daughters first time and it was so much fun seeing the joy and giggles as she played. My kids didn’t just walk around the chairs, they started running. It was great to see them having so much fun while getting some great exercise.
Next we played Push With Your Nose. For this you can only push the item with your nose. We used a bottle cap. You have to get the bottle cap over the line and then back while racing in teams. This was silly and fun.
Last we did the Fitness Relay. Each player has to run across the line and preform a fitness activity. Then run back and tag the next player who runs and does the same. We did jumping jacks, somersaults, push ups, jumping, and break dancing. The kids really loved this one and were having a blast while they got some great exercise.
I really liked doing these activities because they required minimal prep time or equipment but were very fun to enjoy with the family.
I look forward to going over the great ideas and activities they have for eating healthy, achieving a healthy mind, and fitness activities as well.
