I attended an advanced screening of this film. All opinions are my own.
“From Walt Disney Animation Studios comes “Moana,” a sweeping, CG-animated feature film about an adventurous teenager who sails out on a daring mission to save her people. During her journey, Moana (voice of Auli’i Cravalho) meets the once-mighty demigod Maui (voice of Dwayne Johnson), who guides her in her quest to become a master wayfinder. Together, they sail across the open ocean on an action-packed voyage, encountering enormous monsters and impossible odds, and along the way, Moana fulfills the ancient quest of her ancestors and discovers the one thing she’s always sought: her own identity. Directed by the renowned filmmaking team of Ron Clements and John Musker (“The Little Mermaid,” “Aladdin,” “The Princess & the Frog”) and produced by Osnat Shurer (“Lifted,” “One Man Band”), “Moana” sails into U.S. theaters on Nov. 23, 2016.”-Disney
My family and I have been so excited to see MOANA and we all loved it!
The animation for MOANA was beautiful and storyline was really fun. I really liked how they brought the culture of the Polynesian islands into the film. I love that Moana is a strong, independent princess. She is definitely a princess that little girls should be inspired by.
The voice cast was fantastic. I really loved newcomer Auli’i Cravalho as Moana. She brought the strong performance that the character of Moana needed. Her singing voice was gorgeous. Dwayne Johnson was the perfect casting choice for Maui. There definitely was a lot of his personality written into this character. Maui was meant to be played by ‘The Rock.’
I loved the music in this film. It was definitely different than previous Disney films. I think that Lin-Manuel Miranda (of Hamilton fame) definitely added a lot of his style to the music. I also loved the Polynesian sound that was added to the songs. The music was unique and fun.
Our writer Briann also attended an early screening with her family. These are her thoughts:
“My girls and I and some of their cousins were able to go see a pre-screening of Moana and we were seriously blown away! My girls have been wanting to see Moana for quite some time and they couldn’t wait! I used to live on the island of Guam when I was 16-18 and this brought back some amazing feelings of my Islander friends! Moana and Maui the Demi-God were both of my girls favorite characters. They loved the silliness of Maui but also loved how Moana and him became such close friends, especially when they were on a mission to save Moana’s Island! The music was incredibly catchy, in fact they both said this is their new favorite movie of all time! Moana is perfect for boys and girls. My brother in laws tagged along on our girl date and they said they really enjoyed it! This is THE perfect Thanksgiving weekend movie. I can’t wait to go see it again!” –Briann, writer/reviewer for thebraggingmommy.com
MOANA is the perfect movie for the whole family to see together. My family and I loved it and would definitely watch it again!
MOANA gets bragging rights!
