During his summer vacation, “Wimpy Kid” Greg Heffley, the hero of the phenomenally successful book series, hatches a plan to pretend he has a job at a ritzy country club – which fails to keep him away from the season’s dog days, including embarrassing mishaps at a public pool and a camping trip that goes horribly wrong.
I have definitely seen how popular these books are at my school. There is a waiting list the whole year in our school library. It seems like kids cannot get enough of this series. I saw first installment of the Wimpy Kid series but did not see Rodrick Rules. As an adult going to a ‘kid’s book movie’, I had low expectations.
I was surprised how much I enjoyed this movie! I thought it was really cute and my husband and I laughed at many different parts! My favorite was when Greg and Rowley took a ride on an extreme amusement park ride. They thought they were going to die! Also, there is a very hilarious part involving a pair of pink princess swim shorts. I was giggling really hard. This might be because I sometimes have the mentality of a little kid, it comes with my job as a kindergarten teacher.
There were a lot of children in the showing that I attended. I could really tell that they were loving this movie! It is a great film for the whole family, especially if you are already a fan of the Wimpy Kid franchise.
