The DC Universe is undergoing major transformation, giving fans a genuine reason to rejoice with excitement. A little birdie has informed us that DC is launching a one-source digital comics service with unlimited access!
The latest development from the DC Universe Streaming Service is that it is transforming itself into a DC Universe Infinite — a platform where you have unlimited access to DC comics and stories.
The news broke soon after the revelation of the Harley Quinn series, which has found a new home in HBO Max. It’s further being reported that the evolution of the streaming service is going to happen much sooner than anticipated, most likely in January 2022.
Thereforth, fans of the DC Universe will have supersized subscription services for all-things DC, where they will (hopefully!) also be able to find all the dc movies to watch in order.
What is a DC Universe Streaming Service?
For those who’ve been living under a rock, DC Universe was an American on-demand video streaming service, run by the Warner Bros Digital Network and DC Entertainment. Although the initial announcement was made in April 2017, the title and service were made official a year later, in May 2018.
What to Expect from DC Universe Infinite?
The DC Universe Infinite is a first-of-its kind digital experience for the fans of the DC comics. It gives access to 25,000+ comics and graphic novels coming from the heart of DC along with exclusive originals and original collections of the classics that are now blacklisted.
In addition to this, the digital content will be available to you for free only 3 months after its release date. Same goes for the print content; however, it will take 6 months for it to be available for free on this platform. That is not it — service users would also have access to the exclusive DC fan events.
When is the DC Universe Unlimited Planning to Launch?
The official statement reveals that the service will launch next year on the 21st of January. The per-month service charges will be $7.99 but you can also avail the year-long subscription that will only be $74.99. And how do you decide whether or not the service is worth your money? Well, you can also ask for a 7 Day Free Trial to get a hang of the platform and come to a conclusion.
As we said, subscribers will attain access to 24,000 book titles right after its launch. With that, you can expect access to the recently released titles including Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and much more only 6 months after the arrival of print copies in the stores.
And here’s the cherry on top: win a $10 voucher for the DC Shop by subscribing to the service during its pre-order trial. And if you go for the year-long subscription, the amount will go up to $25!
Here is the official statement by DC Publisher and Chief Creative Officer Jim Lee:
“Our fans love the platform’s robust library of comic books and, with the transformation, we will not disappoint. I’m excited to share that not only will DC Universe Infinite members still be able to read all of the great comics that they’ve enjoyed but new issues are debuting on the platform quicker than before, digital first exclusives are being created, and the members-only events will begin as soon as possible.”
Are you wondering what really compelled the sudden transformation? As far as we know, the unexpected turn came right after the announcement of the original DC programming in which it conveyed HBO Max to be its home streaming service. It was followed by the announcement of the animated Harley Quinn series, to be helmed by Kaley Cuoco.
The press release claimed that “HBO Max will be the home for premium video content that will include new DC series, key DC classics and DC Universe originals like Young Justice Seasons 1-4, Titans Seasons 1-3, Doom Patrol Seasons 1-3, and DC’s Stargirl Season 1.”
Also, DC has extended another offer, revealing that subscribers of the DC Universe can also get an HBO Max subscription for $4.99 per month. The offer is valid till the end of October. With that said, it is now obvious that more transformations can be expected from the DC Universe along with efforts to strengthen partnership with HBO Max.
In Conclusion
The rapidly changing landscape of mass media has left us with several options; it’s now up to us to utilize the exclusive content coming in unlimited quantity — a true treat for the fans of the DC universe!
