So I will be completely honest with our mommy readers and everyone else that enjoys reading our reviews. When I was approached about reviewing Danny Phantom:, The Complete Series on DVD I said yes right away and was completely excited. The honesty part comes in here, this time the excitement was for myself ! I love the Danny Phantom cartoon series and even though I was not certain that my younger children would be able to watch without being a little frightened or not I still could not have said no. I did not even pause to ponder for a moment if my kids would enjoy this cartoon or not. I am not afraid to admit that I was only thinking of how much I loved watching Danny Phantom when I said yes! I am willing to “share” the DVDs with them though. That is if they make sure to never ever put a finger print on any of the 10 DVDs it comes with! Actually, I was really excited to watch this with my 12 year old son Cody. Cody and Taylor (who is 4 if you all remember) are the boys that are at the ages where they both might enjoy watching this series with me. If not, I may just have to take the portable DVD player into the bathroom, lock the door,and take a long “bath”. HAHA
So Danny Phantom: The Complete Series on DVD arrived fairly quickly and comes in one conveniently sized DVD case that holds all 10 of the DVDs in it. The actual series itself has 52 episodes and 3 seasons. Danny has parents that are ironically ghost hunters but his father, Jack, is a really really clumsy, unintelligent, and not a very good ghost hunter at all. Since his father is such a dimwit his mother Maddie, who could actually be a fairly decent ghost hunter, gets distracted and held back because of it. This is a good thing for Danny because he hides that he has the ability to turn back and forth from ghost to human form. This ability came from Danny being in an accident that involved a portal to the ghost world that his parents had built into their basement. Sounds a little confusing but back stories to these crazy cartoons usually are a bit silly to explain and a lot more fun to actually sit down and watch.
It is very difficult to sum up 3 seasons of entertainment and fun all in one review without writing a lot of hard to follow story lines and craziness! So I will give my best try to explain why Danny Phantom: The Complete Series on DVD is such an awesome series to purchase for your children. Or even yourself. I promise I will never tell anyone as long as you keep my little guilty secret too. So as I told you Danny has this crazy ability to “go ghost” and change into a ghost form whenever he likes. He uses this ability to stop evil ghosts from taking over the town he lives in called Amity Park. He has the help of his best friends Tucker, Samantha, and occasionally his sister Jazz. He has a few main nemesis but the biggest and baddest nemesis he has is named Vlad Masters (hunan name) who turns into Vlad Plasmius (ghost name). Vlad has the same ability as Danny to turn into a ghost form but uses it for evil and has a love interest in Dannys’ mom. Sounds like a little soap opera but in a cartoon with ghosts geared for children’s interests doesn’t it?! I love it! Haha!
So I hope I have not lost you yet because it would be a shame to not experience Danny Phantom: The Complete Series for yourself! Cody and Taylor, just as I thought they would, decided they wanted to watch the first season with me together. The two of them were hooked to the story line and wanted to stay up late to watch the second season. Being the fantastic mommy that I am, I told them that they needed to go to bed and I would wait to watch it with them the next day. After tucking them into their beds and kissing them goodnight, I stayed up late and finished watching the second season! (Guilty Grin) Thank goodness for snow days and that we have had tons of them the past few weeks. The following day school got canceled and we were able to enjoy the rest of the DVDs together which helped me to not feel so guilty for not keeping my promise. I really do not want to give away all of his adventures, so I will be brief with the rest of my review. Sam has a secret crush on Danny who may or may not find out during the series. Vlad accidentally creates a female version of Danny Phantom named Dani Phantom who becomes one of the enemies Danny has to fight. The high school students at the school Danny and Jazz attend get bitten by a ghost bug and become ghosts themselves in an episode and Danny has to find a way to save them. That is all I am going to give away! I enjoy this cartoon and was sad when it had ended. I am thrilled to be able to watch it now whenever I want because I have all the seasons and all the episodes in my possession. My sons have now joined the fan club with me and really have a lot of fun watching how things end up. Danny Phantom: The Complete Series on DVD really keeps you on your toes!
