I love changing up the look of my home. Adding color and patterns is a great way to add a special touch to a boring wall and stencils are really popular these days. I came across Cutting Edge Stencils Home Décor and was so impressed with all of their stencils. I couldn’t wait to try one out!
“Our reusable wall stencils are so easy to work with, even beginners get great results! Stencils are very cost effective and so much better than wallpaper or vinyl decals! Stencil patterns are a hot decorating trend and so many DIY decorators are discovering the ease and fun of stenciling. Anyone can create gorgeous accent walls with stencils and so inexpensively! It’s easier and faster than you think. Stenciling is not just for walls, but also floors, ceilings, furniture, fabrics, and rugs! With so many stencil designs to choose from, it’s easy to get inspired and tackle any decorating project.”
I had a great time browsing Cutting Edge Stencils to choose which one I wanted. Their wall stencils are so awesome and I had a lot of favorites. The Casablanca Allover Stencil is probably my all time favorite stencil pattern and I think it would look great on ANY wall in ANY home!! Ultimately, I decided to go with a simpler stencil because I knew I probably wouldn’t have gotten around to doing a full wall stencil until the holiday season was over.
I choose the Large Tree and Birds Stencil and I am so happy with my choice. The stencil came rolled up in the package and wasn’t damaged in anyway. It did take a day to flatten out once I removed it from the package but afterwards, it was perfectly flat and ready to be painted with! The stencil was pretty easy to tape up onto the wall, and I was painting in no time.
I was surprised at how simple the painting was when I used a sponge roller. My edges weren’t super crisp, but I am okay with that. If I were to use an allover pattern stencil, I would probably make sure my edges were very crisp by making sure to stick the pattern down perfectly flush against the wall. Painting the whole tree took me about 30 minutes (and that was taking care of a fussy baby at the same time). I decided to color some individual leaves so those took me a little longer to do.
BEFORE AFTER
I am so happy with the way this tree turned out! It looks super cute in my daughters nursery and really adds a nice touch to a boring white wall! My next project will definitely be an allover pattern!!!
