I attended an advanced screening of this film. All opinions are my own.
“Jon M. Chu (“Now You See Me 2”) directed the contemporary romantic comedy “Crazy Rich Asians,” based on the acclaimed worldwide bestseller by Kevin Kwan.
The story follows New Yorker Rachel Chu (Constance Wu) as she accompanies her longtime boyfriend, Nick Young (Henry Golding), to his best friend’s wedding in Singapore. Excited about visiting Asia for the first time but nervous about meeting Nick’s family, Rachel is unprepared to learn that Nick has neglected to mention a few key details about his life. Not only is he the scion of one of the country’s wealthiest families, but also one of its most sought-after bachelors. Being on Nick’s arm puts a target on Rachel’s back, with jealous socialites and, worse, Nick’s own disapproving mother (Michelle Yeoh) taking aim.
It soon becomes clear that the only thing crazier than love is family, in this funny and romantic story sure to ring true for audiences everywhere.” ©Warner Bros.
I have been so excited to see Crazy Rich Asians. I thought that the trailer for the movie made it look so cute. I loved this movie.
I thought that Crazy Rich Asians had a great storyline. It had a great message about the importance of tradition and family. This movie was also hilarious. My cousin and I were laughing the whole time.
The cast in this movie was fantastic. They all had great chemistry together. For me, the standout was Awkwafina as Rachel’s friend, Peik Lin. She was definitely a scene stealer.
Although this movie is probably considered a ‘chick flick’, I think that guys will like it as well. I know that during the movie, I heard just as many men laughing as women.
This movie is rated PG-13 “for some suggestive content and language.” This movie definitely earns this rating. I think that this movie would be appropriated for older teenagers and adults. I would leave the little ones home. This would be the perfect movie for a date night.
I loved Crazy Rich Asians and I am definitely seeing it again!
