As 2021 draws to a close, you might be struggling to find the last few looks that are going to blow even the seasoned makeup artist away. Never fear, here are some glamorous makeup looks everyone will drool over.
When it comes to makeup, everyone breaks the rules. You can now wear what you want, how you want to, and no one bats an eye. Instead, you are more likely to set a trend – yes, queen!
- Expressive Eyes
If you’ve ever seen America’s Next Top Model you should know all about smize – an alluring expression from the eyes. Since the eyes are the window to the soul, creating an expressive look for your eyes is an absolute must! Use your blinkers to show off your personality by getting creative. The great thing about expressive eyes is that you can go to town on yourself and it will be so much fun. Pop on some eyelashes, bust out your eyeliner and draw some cool patterns on your eyelids. Some great expressive eyes feature gold tints, dark smokey eyes, and even white trims and shapes like arrows. So, draw on some stars as you kiss goodbye to 2021.
2. No makeup
Listen, with no makeup and in your natural state you most definitely look great so don’t brush this idea off completely. There are ways to rosy up the cheeks and plump the lips without makeup and it can look equally good. A simple trick is to massage your cheeks with your fingertips for a few minutes, it helps with blood circulation which gives you that rosy glow. As for the lips, use your favorite lip gloss. It looks natural and makes your lips feel so good. Now for the eyes? Well, keep it all-natural.
3. Take a trip down memory lane
There are many makeup looks from the past that have made an appearance over the years. The cat-eye makeup look has been around for decades and checks in with the times every few years. Two big comeback kids must be the 90s and 2000s looks. It was a much simpler time back then, but the makeup was all kinds of wonderful. A few looks to note included the deep red lips, pastel blue eyeshadow (remember Jennifer Lopez rocking this look constantly?), and glitter – yes, glitter was popular before Euphoria made it a thing again.
4. Multicolor eyes
Back in the day, a big makeup faux pas was wearing more than one eyeshadow color at a time. Now, you can paint anything onto your eyelids and no one would, well, bat an eye. Multicolor eyes scream creativity, and boy can you get creative. Select a range of colors and paint them on, from soft pastels to fiery brights there is no stopping you. Popular multicolor eye makeup is the rainbow. Many people recreate the Pride Flag while others use softer shades and tones to create a look for the perfect day out. PS don’t forget to define your brows as this will make the colors pop!
5. Full-on natural foundation
If you want to keep the natural look going but you still want to wear makeup, why not opt for a natural foundation. There is nothing better than looking like yourself but with a slight modification here or there. Instead of covering your natural beauty spots like freckles, lightly cover your face with the foundation, making a point not to cover your beauty spots. But how do you create a natural look with foundation? Try to find a natural foundation that is matte as it is long-lasting and great for oil control AND you’ll be looking all-natural, what more could you want!
6. Soft colors
Sometimes you are out in your sweatpants and track top and a full-on glammed-up look just won’t cut it. Opt for softer colors, especially for the eyes. Think pastel blues and pinks and nudes for the lips. Not only will you be looking fierce, but this look can be dressed both up and down. Pro tip: Blend out the pigment with a fluffy makeup brush to give a more soft and diffused finish. It takes a lot of patience but it’s worth it.
7. Glitter bomb
As stated earlier, glitter makeup has been around for a long time and it’s completely epic! From nail polish to eye crazy eye makeup, glitter will make your world sparkle. This year was not an easy one, so why not glam up one of your final looks for 2021 with a sparkle. Create a very simple yet glamorous glitter eye look. Apply black eyeliner to the base of the eyelid then apply a generous amount of glitter – the cosmetic kind, and voila, a festival party look that is bound to get the attention of everyone around you.
8. Eyeliner styles
A lot of people are not into eyeshadow and that’s okay. Makeup is about exploring what works for you, what makes you feel comfortable, and most importantly, what makes you feel good. Another cool trend is to wear eyeliner minus the eyeshadow – pretty much whatever works for you. So usually, eyeliner would be applied to the base on your eyelid but instead, you can apply your eyeliner right onto your eyelid and draw cool patterns or just straight lines – break ALL the makeup rules before 2021 is over.
9. Go color crazy
There is always a big focus on color. Colors of the season, the year, the decade, etc. but finding out what works for you can be tricky. The great thing is you don’t have to stick to your usual color palette. End off 2021 by going for those far-reaching colors. Wear the lime green eyeshadow and rock the bright neon pink lipstick, go on, you deserve to show off sometimes!
