Pulsed electromagnetic field therapy, which involves low field magnetic stimulation, is a form of electromagnetic field therapy used for depression and non-union fractures. People suffering from old and new injury issues, chronic pain (including arthritis, migraines, and fibromyalgia), depressed mood, and diabetes can benefit from PEMF. It’s also suitable for wanting to feel better, sleep much better, relieve stress, regain strength and fatigue, and unwind more. PEMF is a type of passive, non-invasive cellular exercise. Merely lie down for a significant period and let the PEMF machine do the rest.
But is PEMF suitable for pregnant ladies?
PEMF therapy is non-invasive and pain-free, and it can be performed in the comfort of home. Moreover, there are only a few contraindications that have been widely agreed upon in the literature. PEMF machines are entirely risk-free. There seem to be no recognized toxicities with the therapy, and no news stories of issues associated with excess exposure to the device’s electromagnetic fields have indeed been received.
Pregnancy
A study explored the correlation between shallow maternal frequency MF (ELF-MF) exposure during pregnancy and fetal growth in offspring. To record daily ELF-MF exposure, one hundred twenty-eight pregnant women were required to wear an EMDEX Lite meter for 24 days at the end of their third trimester. The investigators used the time-weighted average (TWA), P50, and P75 of unique 24-hour measurement techniques to evaluate prenatal ELF-MF exposure. The medians of these measurement techniques are being used as cut-off points for high and low prenatal ELF-MF exposure. The infant’s birth weight, skinfold depth of the triceps, abdominal muscles, and back and the girth of the head, upper arm, and abdominal muscles have all been used to calculate fetal growth. Within 24 hours of the baby’s birth, such tests were performed. A Generalized Linear Model was used to analyze the association between maternal ELF-MF levels and fetal growth index values after potential confounders were accounted for.
Compared to girls with lesser prenatal ELF-MF exposure, girls with higher prenatal ELF-MF exposure had a lower birth weight, thinner triceps, abdomen, and back skinfolds, and relatively small circumference of the head upper arm, and abdominal muscles in all three ELF-MF matrices. The distinctions in birth weight and most other growth measurements were statistically meaningful (P 0.05). On such measures, there’s no substantial difference among higher and lower prenatal ELF-MF exposure in boys, except back skinfold thickness.
Precautions
Even if you’re pregnant or not, the essential precautions to take before beginning PEMF therapy are to make sure that you’re using the device appropriately to have a pleasant and completely safe experience.
· We suggest that you do the following before starting your PEMF machine therapy session
· Every time consult your doctor in between treatment
· Invariably make sure to read the manual before using the device
If you have a baby, consult your doctor to ensure that electromagnetic fields will not harm your child’s health. This warning is issued since no medical trials on pregnant patients have shown that PEMF therapy is contraindicated all through pregnancy. Pulsed electromagnetic fields released into the atmosphere by solenoids inside the therapy band may impact the formation of the fetus when going to treat nearby areas such as the back and hips.
“While there are no studies or evidence to suggest that PEMF therapy is detrimental to a pregnant woman, there are not enough studies or research to deduce that it is safe. Consequently, we do not advocate for the use of PEMF during pregnancy”
