I know that this day and age has become all about electronics. But sometimes it’s nice to find my girls using their creativity and turning off the tablet or TV and playing together sweetly. I received several products from Brilliant Sky Toys & Books.
Brilliant Sky Toys & Books came up with the Brilliance awards and this year the top ten are surprisingly low tech! “Someone had the brilliant idea five years ago to cull through 10,000 high quality kids products that overflowed the shelves of the 17 Brilliant Sky Toys & Books stores and pick a few favorites. They dubbed them the Brilliance Awards.” (Brilliant Sky Toys & Books Press Release)
My girls absolutely love to play house, dolls, and use their imagination. I couldn’t wait to have them try out these toys from the Brilliance Awards List.! I was really excited when we received the Lottie Snow Queen and Lottie Autumn Leaves Doll. One of my girls favorite things is to play dolls together and these Lottie Dolls are perfect. Both of the girls exclaimed how pretty they were and they were pretending the Snow Queen was the Ice Queen from Chronicles of Narnia and the Autumn Leaves Doll was Lucy from the same book and movie. It was really cute to see them use their imagination so much! The girls loved how these dolls came with some really cute accessories, I can see why it made the Brilliance awards!
“Designed in Britain and winner of 10 toy awards, Lottie is a new, innovative fashion doll who stands for positive contemporary values. Her bright, vibrant clothes, silky hair, and creative accessories are tailored to reflect a young girl who is happy, brave, imaginative, and bright – the most positive role model possible. And she stands on her own two feet — figuratively and literally. At 7″, she’s the easiest size for girls ages 3 – 9 to clasp, and thanks to bendable joints, she can stand and assume different poses.” (Brilliant Sky Press Release)
We also received some really fun building toys! The Plus Plus Mini Basic set in neon which came with 480 pieces! The girls absolutely loved making their own designs and shapes. Leah was really sweet helping Charlotte make things and they both played with these for a long time! “Picture two plus (+) signs joined together and you “get” this simple shape with endless possibilities. Plus-Plus building bricks allow kids as young as 3 to create mosaics or 3-D designs. This new Plus-Plus Mini-Basic set contains 480 bricks as well as instructions to make 3 specific models. A great way to get kids started with the Plus-Plus product line. The toy line is designed and manufactured in Denmark.” (Brilliant Sky Press Release)
We also received the Create Your Own Storybook: “Imagine holding a real book, written and illustrated by your own child. Kids’ minds are alive with imagination. Their stories are so unique and amusing. They love to draw, create and write. Just think how they’ll respond when you tell them to write a story and it’ll actually become a book — bound and printed. This kit includes everything — it only lacks a child’s fantastic creativity. Blank sheets, with a border frame to draw in and lines to write on, are waiting to be filled. (The finished book will hold 12 pages, but 18 template sheets are given in case an elbow gets bumped or the storyline changes.) Create a separate sheet for every page; draw a picture on the cover sheet. Fill in the info sheet with the child’s name, book title, and dedication. Place all the completed pages into the postage paid envelope and drop in the mail! Creatively Ever After will ship back the final product in 4 to 6 weeks.” (Brilliant Sky Press Release)
Now onto the winners of the Brilliance Awards!
“In all, the 2014 Brilliance Awards covers 10 different brands with price tags from $9.99 to $39.99 with most toys running about $24.99 to $29.99. For the fifth year in a row, parents and grandparents can use this brilliant list as a guide for holiday shopping, birthday presents and Thanksgiving homecoming gifts.
Beyond the annual list, the company’s website, www.BrilliantSkyToys.com, is a joy to explore from watching Brilliant Sky TV episodes to reading the informative blog. The national retailer likes to educate its customers not just on what’s new but the story behind the toymakers. One such blog from this summer showcases newcomer Lottie Dolls, one of the 2014 Brilliance Award winners.
“Sometimes in the world of toys it’s easy to miss the particular story or purpose behind the creation of a specific toy. One story that really makes a statement is that of the Lottie Doll. Lottie was launched in the fall of 2012 and has been making a statement ever since. All the dolls are modeled after storybook heroines. All of the girls in these fun and inspiring stories are great models for girls growing up today and at Brilliant Sky we love what Lottie is doing to perpetuate that fun and imaginative spirit.”
