I received this quadcopter from Ohuhu for my review. All opinions are my own.
My son has always wanted an RC helicopter. So when I saw the Ohuhu RC Explorers Quadcopter with Camera, I thought it looked really fun and I knew my son would be so happy to get it.
I was right, he was thrilled and couldn’t wait to try it out. It comes with: The Quadcopter, the remote control, 8 propeller bumper guards (4 extra), 4 extra propellers, a mini screwdriver, 4 screws, 2 batteries, and a USB charger for the batteries. It also comes with a mini SD card for the camera, and a USB port that holds the mini SD card for getting pictures and videos using your computer.
I am so impressed that it comes with all the extras, so should you need extra propellers or batteries, you already have them.
All that was required for assembly was to put on the propeller bumper guards with the included screws and screwdriver. Then we had to put AA batteries in the remote. You can fly it without the bumpers if you are a more experienced flyer. I like having the bumpers so when we accidentally bump something it protects the propellers.
It has a camera attached to the bottom by the battery compartment, the camera can be removed if you like.
The mini SD is inserted into the back of the camera.
We started out flying it inside just to get the hang of the controls. It took some learning to get it figured out. I wouldn’t say we are experts at controlling it yet by any means, but we are getting better.
Then it was time to take it outside to fly. Wow! So much fun! I wasn’t expecting it to fly so high, and it can even do a 360° flip! My son and his friends have been having a blast playing with this Quadcopter and taking videos of their flights. They would get all excited being able to watch their flights back.
One of the coolest features of this Quadcopter is that it has a video camera attached to the bottom so you can take both videos and pictures during flight. It even records sound. Here are a few of the videos we made of our outdoor flights that I spliced together using YouTube video editor. In it you can see the Quadcopter do a 360° flip! Take a look…
It is easy to access the videos and pictures you have taken, by pulling them up on your computer with the included USB mini SD card holder.
We love that it comes with 2 batteries. The flight time is only 7 minutes. So it is nice to have a second battery all charged and ready to switch over to. Ohuhu recommends taking a 10 minute break between battery replacements to protect the motor and circuit board. So after waiting the 10 minutes, you can start flying again. So you can get about 14 minutes of flight time in a 24 minute time period. The charging time for the batteries is 90-100 minutes.
This Quadcopter is recommended for ages 14+, I am guessing that is to avoid frustration and crashes. My son is only 8 and had fun flying this with adult supervision and help.
