These are my favorite reviews to do. I love to do a review/giveaway that is something to help a mommy get some good sleep. That’s why when I was asked to review the Comfort Revolution Hydraluxe Gel Pillow I was quick to say yes. We all know what nights are like for moms the moment we bring a baby home from the hospital. The day we say hello to that beautiful little face is the same day that we say goodbye to the back of our eye lids and a good nights sleep. As mothers we are programmed by nature to put our own children’s needs before our own. Its just hard wired into us and we do it without a second thought about it. The problem is when we start to lose steam from the lack of sleep we start to lose some of our magical touch. Its important that we remember to take care of ourselves. To ask for help once in a while and to remember that it’s okay if we are not super mom every day. This pillow is a like a cloud that we get to lay our heads on every night because we deserve it! I really have always wanted one of these cool pillows for myself for a while now.
So the kids are normally the people that I order for online when I order things online. They have become accustomed to every package that gets left at our door containing something magical, shiny, and new! They were a bit surprised to find a pillow this time around but not too shy to pose for a photo next to mommy’s new cool gel pillow! I was so excited that I felt like I was the kid the day it arrived and I was opening the package. I always start the night in my bed like any normal mommy does but by the middle of the night I have at least 2 out of the 3 children in bed with me and my husband. Let me tell you that if hormones were not already causing me to have some hot flashes my super heater children are definitely causing me to overheat. When I read the words “Cooling Bed Pillow” my heart skipped a beat and I jumped to get this bad boy up to my bedroom and opened up! Who ever thought up this magical combination of memory foam and cooling gel must be a mother of at least 3 children! They must know the pain I have been living with and thought of an invention to save my day. To me it was a union as heavenly as Peanut butter and Chocolate. Yea, I said it. It is that serious! Thank you Comfort Revolution Pillow for being a little piece of heaven in my bed!
To look at the pillow when it comes you would not think much of it. It is one of those cool pillows you always wanted but in disguise so no one else will know its the one to steal away from you. It has its own think case over the actual gel layer so its almost a bit deceiving to look at. One you touch it though you realize how real this pillow actually is. Its very thick and heavy to touch. Yet when you lay your head on it you basically sink into a cushion that envelopes you. I just love it. It does come with another case that zips shut so that you can wash it if it gets dirty. So there is basically 2 layers between you and the actual gel that you see in the photos on their website and on the front of the packaging. That really does not change the final product and the results you get when you lay your head on it.
The best way to show how the pillow envelopes your head is the cheesy handprint that they do on the TV commercials. So thats what I did. I put my hand down on the pillow and lifted it off and took an immediate photo after. You can clearly see where the pillow conformed around my fingers where my hand had just been. As for a way to show how the pillow stays cool, I can’t. You will just have to take my word for it. It stays cool and it really does keep you feeling cooler than when you sleep on a regular pillow. As a mom we know that our children lose majority of their body heat through their heads. That is why we make sure in the winter we have hats for our babies to wear. So it makes sense that a pillow with a specialized gel layer would have the opposite effect. I found that I slept a lot more comfortably at least temperature wise when I started sleeping with this pillow in my bed.
You certainly do not need to take my word for it but I promise you that this pillow is a definite investment for the family. We all know the rule that if mom is not happy then no one is! So make sure to take a moment and make yourself happy once in a while!
