Technology is fantastic but sometimes it’s overwhelmingly dominant in the lives of our children and all we want is for them to take a break and be a kid! When thinking about Christmas gifts for my 4-year-old daughter this year, I wanted to find something that would encourage imaginative play and didn’t have batteries. Well I have found the perfect gift! I was sent a Build and Imagine “construction” dollhouse-like magnetic building set to review along with an extra set of magnetic dolls, and my daughter has absolutely loved playing with them!
“Build & Imagine StoryWalls are like building blocks meets dollhouse meets dress-up dolls. It’s a unique mashup featuring adventurous characters and rich illustrated details that inspire girls and boys alike to build and imagine.
In the past, toy companies designed their construction toys almost exclusively for boys. Thankfully, they are now starting to invite girls to build, but many are doing so by taking their existing construction sets and turning them pink. I call it “pink think”.
We can approach toy design in a more thoughtful way, and doing so is important. The simple act of combining shapes to form a three dimensional structure helps kids to develop foundation skills for science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). Skills like spatial reasoning, problem solving, creativity, and design.
Toys can make a difference. Let’s invite all children to Build and Imagine.”
First of all, I love the design inspiration behind these magnetic toys. The fact that they combine a love of dolls and dressing up, with the excitement of building and constructing is something that makes these toys fantastically unique. They are perfect for girls and boys alike and provide those foundation skills that help shape a child’s mind!
We were send the Build and Imagine: Malia’s House, and I am pretty sure we found the ultimate doll house. Not only does my daughter get
“(With Malia’s House) kids aren’t limited to one design—they can quickly reconstruct Malia’s House into whatever design suits them. They can also change the context of their story with magnetic accessories that stick to the floors,
Along with Malia’s House, we received an extra set of dress-up dolls with the Career Dolls. I love this one because it
“Careers featured are: space explorer, police detective, the president, rock star, video game designer, doctor, chemist, builder, fire fighter, chef, chemist, and professional soccer player. Imagine the possibilities!”
If you are looking for a unique Christmas Gift that offers lots of imaginative play and encourages the development of STEM skills, then Build & Imagine is for YOU! I know Santa will approve of this one! P.S tell Santa he can find Build & Imagine Playsets at Barnes & Noble, Amazon, QVC, and limited Targets this fall 😉
