Best Family Movie of the Summer ~ Inside Out Movie Review ~ Now Playing! #InsideOut

I attended an advanced screening for my review.  All opinions are my own.

“Do you ever look at someone and wonder what is going on inside their head? Disney•Pixar’s original new film “Inside Out” ventures inside the mind to find out.

Based in Headquarters, the control center inside 11-year-old Riley’s mind, five Emotions are hard at work, led by lighthearted optimist Joy (voice of Amy Poehler), whose mission is to make sure Riley stays happy. Fear (voice of Bill Hader) heads up safety, Anger (voice of Lewis Black) ensures all is fair and Disgust (voice of Mindy Kaling) prevents Riley from getting poisoned—both physically and socially. Sadness (voice of Phyllis Smith) isn’t exactly sure what her role is, and frankly, neither is anyone else.

When Riley’s family relocates to a scary new city, the Emotions are on the job, eager to help guide her through the difficult transition. But when Joy and Sadness are inadvertently swept into the far reaches of Riley’s mind—taking some of her core memories with them—Fear, Anger and Disgust are left reluctantly in charge. Joy and Sadness must venture through unfamiliar places—Long Term Memory, Imagination Land, Abstract Thought and Dream Productions—in a desperate effort to get back to Headquarters, and Riley.”

My whole family was looking forward to seeing Disney•Pixar’s newest movie INSIDE OUT.  We attended an early screening and it was fantastic! Everyone in my family loved it, including my husband.

Before the movie you have the pleasure of enjoying the LAVA short. It is so sweet and adorable with great music.  Get a behind the scenes look at the creation of LAVA in my interview post with LAVA producer and director.

This movie is so well done.  The cast they put together for the emotions inside Riley’s head are fantastic.  Each actor’s voice and personality are perfect for the emotion they play.  The whole idea for this movie is so clever and I found myself laughing throughout the whole movie with all the funny and clever parts.  I also loved the emotions it invoked in me.  There were several parts that made me get teary eyed.  I love everything about this movie.  It’s FUNNY, CLEVER, and SO MUCH FUN to watch!

My kids LOVED this movie and were quoting lines and talking about the movie the whole ride home.  In fact they  still talk about it and mention parts from it.  They want to see it again in the theaters and are already asking if we can buy it once it is out on Blu-ray.  My 3 year old sat through the whole movie so it was great at keeping the attention of your little ones, as well as being fun and interesting for my 7 year old son. You won’t go wrong taking the kids to this one.  It’s an instant hit with them!

Earlier this year I had the pleasure of sitting down for an interview with the Director and Producer of INSIDE OUT, take a look to get some more insight into the movie.

This is a the BEST FAMILY MOVIE of the summer!  It is a movie everyone in the family will enjoy, young and old.  Be sure to take your whole family to see it.

INSIDE OUT is rated PG and is now playing in theaters everywhere!
