Affordable Weekend Getaways for New Parents

Becoming a parent is a new, exciting and tiring time in anyone’s life. But, for you and your partner, it may be one of the most challenging experiences you both deal with – especially now, thanks to the pandemic.

Encountering difficult times within your relationship is understandable but also avoidable. Communication, patience and understanding will be at the forefront as your finances and lack of sleep become a point of everyday conversation. For any new family, budgeting will be essential, and it will become vital to save on your family expenses using directories to identify flyers and promotions to help you get the best prices on products.

All that said, as you prepare to save on family expenses, it’s important to treat yourself and your spouse. Parental burnout is real, and the harsh reality is it can include physical, emotional and mental symptoms, which is why a weekend getaway is the best way to treat yourselves.

Katayune Kaeni, Psy.D., a psychologist in perinatal mental health, says, “getting time to rest and recoup is a luxury for some, but a necessity for all.”
Now that you’re saving on family expenses thanks to directories, flyers and coupons, give yourselves a break. Find a babysitter and treat yourself to an affordable weekend getaway.

Wine Tour

Nothing says a treat like a winery tour. You and your partner can try new wines, catch up, meet new people, all while rekindling your love. You can make this a day or weekend getaway depending on your budget and time.

Camping

If you’re an outdoorsy couple, go back to where your love started. Find the park your relationship first sparked or a new campsite to rekindle your passion. A phone detox and being present in the moment will be beneficial for your relationship and your physical and mental health.

Wellness Retreat

With National Wellness Month approaching, there’s no time like the first year as a new parent to treat yourself. If your budget allows it, a wellness retreat is a perfect time to reflect, relax and escape from your daily activities. If health and safety are your concerns, many luxury resorts have updated their safety measures to ensure every precaution.

Airbnb

Depending on your preferred style and comfort, there are thousands of homes you can stay at for the weekend. Some fantastic stays are available at the low cost of $100 per night, perfect for any parent who’s on a budget. Your getaway can include a cottage by a beach or a cabin overlooking the mountains.

Resort Hotel

A resort hotel is not only a place to sleep but can be a luxurious and relaxing trip. A resort hotel has different restaurant options, activities, gyms, and spas, all included in one location. While this may be one of the more costly trips, it saves you time and money because you’ll never have to leave the hotel for the duration of your stay.

To new parents, we know times are hard. Although, it’s important to remind yourself that you are doing a great job and should treat yourself to a relaxing weekend because you deserve it.
