Home automation not only makes your home more functional. It makes your accommodation spacious by allowing you to find additional storage places and optimizing those storage spaces that you have been using for ages.
Let us have a look at how all this happens and what projects can help you to find more places to store the things that you need to smooch.
Start with Your Office
In your office, you need all the equipment that you normally or occasionally use. Otherwise, you won’t be able to perform your daily tasks efficiently.
We start with the very needed item – your desk. If you are still using a traditional desk, it is time to replace or remake it. What about a modern height-adjustable office desk? A small standing desk will not only make your office look modern but bring you a lot of benefits for health and thus, will make your work more efficient.
Along with health benefits and efficiency, a standing desk allows you to optimize your working space. So, if you use a CPU, you can get and install a CPU holder for a standing desk.
It is attached beneath the desk top. It is sturdy, reliable, and almost invisible. For those concerned with office security, Home Security Systems Perth offers solutions that integrate seamlessly with your workspace, ensuring that safety and organization go hand in hand.
Another nice item is a drawer for standing desks. You might be wondering what is the difference between this drawer and a usual one. This one is attached below the desk top in the place where you need it. Once it is not needed anymore, you just remove it.
Kitchen Also Deserves Some Refurbishment
Now, let us move to your kitchen. It is a place where you usually need a lot of space to accommodate all those kitchen devices that are supposed to make your life easier. However, our kitchens are not the biggest rooms. Therefore, most devices cannot be accommodated properly. And cluttering your kitchen is not the best option, either.
So, what about some automation ideas that are going to solve the space issue forever?
The first one is a lifting column. You can install it into one of your kitchen cabinets. Fix a platform on the column top. On the platform, install the device you have been dreaming about. In the cabinet top, make an opening big enough to make the device pass.
Now, with a push of a button, the column moves up and lifts the device to the cabinet surface. You can use it like any other item in the kitchen. By the way, you can make a cap to close the opening when the column is in a retracted position.
Another nice idea is a hidden rack for smaller items such as spices, utensils, etc. You can hide the rack either behind one of the wall-mounted kitchen cabinets or inside, in the lower part.
- To install a rack, you need an actuator. Fix it behind a kitchen cabinet on the wall or inside of the kitchen cabinet, on its backside.
- To the lower actuator part, attach a rack.
- When the actuator moves in an extended position, it lowers the rack to the level where you can use it conveniently. When it moves to its retracted position, the rack hides either behind or in the kitchen cabinet.
While such racks are normally used for storing smaller items, you can use more powerful elements (actuator and the rack) and make space for storing whatever you need. The idea is that the rack hides in a space that is not frequently used otherwise. So. you start using the space actively and at the same time, the rack moves up and down by allowing you to use the needed items conveniently.
In Bedroom, There Is a Lot of Storage Space
Another room where you can find a lot of additional storage space is your bedroom. What about arranging your new storage space directly under the bed? Make a huge box, divide it into compartments to store different things, and the storage place is ready.
Now, install a couple of actuators in a way to make them lift the bed frame when they are in a retracted position. When the bed frame is up, you can arrange the things, take them out, and store them. When the actuators are in an extended position, they keep the bed frame in its place by hiding the storage space.
You can do the same with your sofa. By the way, many sofas have this option, however, in most cases, it is not automated. So, automate it and enjoy the comfort.
As you can see, there are a lot of options to expand the storage space in your home. Even if until now, you have thought that your accommodation is small indeed, you might change your opinion completely. Now, it is time to automate most things! Have a look around. Check what is needed automation, and do it.
