If you are one of those students aiming to get in the 99th percentile on mcat then you will have to do many hours of revision to achieve that. However, this can be a stressful thing for some individuals, regardless of their ages or experience of revising for exams. For those individuals out there who do struggle with this kind of thing, then do not worry as there are some things that you can do to help make the entire process that bit easier.
Put the time in revising
Probably the best way to take the stress out of the process is to not procrastinate and actually get down to doing the revision. It is quite easy to get carried away creating a study plan, and putting out posts on to social media in order to let the world know what you are planning on doing. Instead of doing this, put your smartphone down and pick up a text book instead. Doing this will help to ensure that you get the best possible grade on the mcat.
Talk to someone about it
If the stress of revision is getting all too much for you, then you should talk to a friend or family member about the issue. The process of doing this can actually be hugely therapeutic for you, even if they do not have the answer for sorting the problem. Your teachers, parents, and / or siblings are all good people to talk to about your issues.
Have regular meal times
This helps to keep some sort of structure to your day and acts as a good platform for you to do your revision around. The stresses of revising can make you likely to snack more in order to take your mind off of it. By setting aside specific times to eat, the snacking should stop and you can dedicate more focused time on learning the required content.
Go out for a walk
During the process, it is easy to get carried away with studying and not even bother to venture outside. The benefit of going out for a walk and getting some fresh air inside of your lungs is something that should never be underestimated. Spending just a small amount of time out in nature can lift your mood and make you feel more positive and satisfied with life. Getting fresh air also works to greatly improve your concentration levels, meaning that when you come back to revising, you take in more of the information.
Switch off from revising
If the stress is getting all too much for you, then it can be beneficial to take yourself away from it for a little while in order to switch off from it. If you go to bed stressed out from revising then it is likely that you will have a bad night’s sleep, thus making the situation even worse the following day. Try switching to an activity that calms you and makes you relaxed, such as yoga, reading a book, or listening to some music.
