Environment-Friendly Lifestyle Changes You Need To Make

Thinking of how you can do your part to save the environment? Change is not always easy. Instead of doing drastic changes at once, start with simple steps like reading climate change books as a part of your daily routine that would motivate you to take the much needed steps to create a healthy environment for all.

To get you started, here are environmentally-friendly lifestyle changes that you can do.

Turn off the tap.

Cleaning up after lunch? Turn off the tap while scrubbing the dishes or in between rinsing. That way, you are able to conserve water.

When taking a shower, you do not need the water running while doing your hair or lathering up. You can also turn off the bathroom sink faucet while brushing your teeth.

Proper handwashing takes at least 20 seconds of scrubbing your hands with soap. Imagine if your water is running the whole time. Turn off the tap instead.

This simple act saves you gallons of water which helps the environment.

Use less paper by switching to cloth.

Have you ever noticed how much kitchen paper towels and toilet papers you use up in a week? This is probably how much other households use as well. Paper waste is a huge part of our landfills.

Cloth is a reusable alternative to single-use paper. In the kitchen, consider using cloth when wiping off spills. You can also use it to clean the dining table and kitchen counters.

You can turn old clothes into cleaning rags with easy DIY methods such as braiding. Also, consider using cloth table napkins such as those made from organic cotton or linen. These also come in beautiful designs and colors that you can choose from.

Not only is this environmentally-friendly, but it is also wallet-friendly! This lifestyle change will definitely save you money.

Minimize the use of plastic.

Plastic pollution has an impact on wildlife, our health, and climate change. One lifestyle change that you can do is to minimize the use of plastic beginning in your household.

Planning a trip to the grocery? Instead of having your purchases packed in plastic bags, consider bringing your own reusable grocery tote bags. Choose bags that are made from recyclable materials.

Reusable bags or eco-bags, such as those made of canvas fabric, are durable compared to flimsy single-use plastic bags. You can use it for other purposes and also get to save money as stores now charge for plastic bags.

Another way of reducing plastic use is by skipping plastic straws in restaurants or fast-food chains. There are cute environmentally-friendly straws made of bamboo or metal that you can use as alternatives.

Switch to eco-friendly bathroom products.

Personal care products are part of the 70% of waste in our landfills. And every day, we use a variety of bathroom products such as shampoos, liquid soaps, q-tips, and moisturizers. Thankfully, there are switches that you can make in your bathroom for a more environmentally-friendly lifestyle.

One of the best things you can do for the environment is to switch from your current toilet paper to a 100% bamboo one. Not only will it be much cheaper and easier to deal with, but it also lasts much longer than traditional toilet paper. Moreover, Bamboo toilet paper is safer for the environment and washes off easier than any other type of toilet paper.

For instance, swap your disposable plastic razors for safety razors which are usually made of metal. They are also a great investment because they are made to be durable. You no longer need to keep buying disposable razors, so you also reduce waste in the bathroom.

Q-tips or cotton swabs are hygiene essentials that end up in our oceans when disposed of improperly. Swap your single-use Q-tips for LastSwab beauty that can replace up to 1000 disposable cotton swabs. It is a great addition to your makeup bag, you can use it to easily touch-up your makeup with LastSwab beauty.

Brushing our teeth multiple times a day is part of our daily life to maintain good oral hygiene. Moreover, toothbrushes are usually made of plastic and need to be replaced every few months. An eco-friendly lifestyle that you can make is switching to sustainable bamboo toothbrushes, which are 100% biodegradable.

Consider reusing empty bottles for other purposes. Once you have finished up your shampoo, do not throw your empty plastic bottle just yet. For example, you can turn it into a sponge holder to organize your kitchen sink.

Become environmentally-aware.

Making that change in your routine can be easier when you understand the purpose of your actions. For instance, you have probably seen rescue videos of turtles getting injured by plastic bags.

Sadly, plastic pollution is one of the major causes of harm to marine life. Even marine birds die due to accidental ingestion of plastic. Having said that, this can be a compelling reason or an inspiration for you to reduce plastic use.

To help you further with making that environmentally-friendly lifestyle change, start by educating yourself with the basics. Be aware of what can potentially harm or help the environment. Start by making these changes at home, and get the support of your household members.

Read the news or join communities that promote an eco-friendly lifestyle. Also, believe that you can make that change and stay consistent.
