Do you have trouble starting to get things moving in the morning?
So do we, but with a little bit of thought, you can make sure that you have a bright and happy day ahead of you. There’s no limit to what you can accomplish once you have your morning routine down.
So, let’s buckle down and we’ll show you some of the various ways to make sure that you’re up and at ‘em when the morning rolls around.
1. Find the Right Time to Wake Up and Stick to It
Contrary to what society tells us each of us has our own internal circadian rhythm. Working alongside it is one of the keys to making sure that you’re able to get going as soon as you’re up.
The problem is that most of us have been conditioned to think that we need to wake up at a different time than our bodies tell us to. You can experiment a little bit, some supposed night-owls even end up finding out they’re morning people once their routine has been established.
Your sleep routine is vital to improving productivity, making you feel better, and even your mental health. That’s a lot for the few hours we spend in bed.
Finding the right time to wake up can take a bit, but just give it a shot. Once you have it dialed in you’ll need to schedule your entire day around when you go to bed and when you wake up.
You might be surprised at the end results. This is the most important part of making your mornings fun instead of an endless drag. Just make sure you schedule enough time to sleep as well and you’ll be well on your way to an incredibly productive day.
2. Find Your Morning Ritual
Once you’re waking up at the same time you’ll find that it’s important to begin structuring your early day. Some people might wake up, journal, meditate and shower before they hit the day head-on.
Others might slam down two shots of espresso, engage in a vigorous workout, and then attack the day as aggressively as they attacked their morning.
The important thing is that it’s tailored to what you need to get your day going.
Each individual will find their own but it should be fun and something sustainable rather than a drag. If you start the day off irritated and tired you’re not going to be able to hold on for long and making a real ritual out of your mornings will help you be more productive and energetic throughout the day.
Yoga or just sitting with a novel and a cup of coffee, your morning ritual should allow you to get prepared for the day ahead.
3. Eat Some Breakfast
Seriously. Eat some breakfast.
One of the best things you can do for your day is to make sure that you have the energy to sustain the momentum gained through your daily morning rituals. Eating breakfast is a high priority task and not something you should skip because of small difficulties.
What you choose to eat is up to you and your own metabolism, of course, but in the end, making sure that you have a meal within a few hours of getting out of bed can make an enormous difference in how you tackle the day.
Pair it with some energy-boosting coffee for the best results and you’ll never want to skip your morning meal again.
Even those who are doing things like intermittent fasting would do well to start their day with a couple of eggs and a piece or two of fruit. Your body hasn’t had any fuel put in it while you’re sleeping and it’s foolhardy to start on an empty tank.
4. Stay Hydrated
One of the most common pieces of advice you’ll hear when you study the morning routines of successful people is hydration. Our bodies need water on a constant basis and the average person’s morning routine includes coffee… after six to eight hours of not drinking any water.
It’s no way to start the day and making sure that you drink plenty of water during the morning will help to keep you hydrated as you begin to dive into your work.
It’s recommended you drink a glass as soon as you get up, but don’t stop there. Indeed, if you’re often thirsty and dry-mouthed upon waking you’d do well to make sure that you drink enough water that you’re not thirsty before diving into dehydrating drinks like coffee.
It’s just basic health, but you’ll be surprised at how big of a change it can be in the morning.
5. Prioritize Your Day Before You Start
After going through the above it’s time to set up for the day. Hopefully, you have a good idea of what needs to be done, what you want to be done, and what doesn’t really need to be handled at just this moment.
Writing these tasks down, as well as noting which are the highest priority is a good way to begin. Using a glass white board write these tasks down, as well as noting which are the highest priority is a good way to begin. Not only have you organised the days work, you can visually track your progress.
For many people, starting with the heaviest task of the day may not be the easiest thing to do. If that’s the case then work up to it, with each small victory you’re just a bit closer to actually conquering the day as a whole.
Write it down, put it into action, and carry your momentum through the day. It’s just the way to do it!
Morning Workflow Doesn’t Have to Be Glum
If you’re able to put all of the above together, and we think you are, you’re looking at a life-changing way to begin your day. Once you have your own system dialed in, and stick with it, you’ll be amazed at just how easy each day seems to flow by.
Increased productivity and an overall sense of well-being are within your grasp. All you need to do is begin to experiment until your routine is in the right place to grasp it!
