I attended an advanced screening of this film. All opinions are my own.
“On the run in the year 1987, Bumblebee finds refuge in a junkyard in a small Californian beach town. Charlie (Hailee Steinfeld), on the cusp of turning 18 and trying to find her place in the world, discovers Bumblebee, battle-scarred and broken. When Charlie revives him, she quickly learns this is no ordinary, yellow VW bug.”-©Paramount Pictures
I enjoyed the first Transformers movie that came out several years ago but I have been disappointed with all the others. I do not think I have even seen the last two. I was excited though when they announced a Bumblebee focused movie. He is my favorite Transformer. I was surprised how much I loved the movie Bumblebee.
I loved the storyline. This movie is a prequel to the first film in the series. We found out how Bumblebee came here to Earth from Cybertron. I loved how this movie gave Bumblebee so much personality. I fell even more in love with this character. This movie was touching and sofunny. I laughed a lot during the film. The jokes and all the 80s references were fantastic.
Hailee Steinfeld was fantastic as Charlie. She had a lot of spunk and personality. Her performance carries the film.
The movie is rated PG-13 “for sequences of sci-fi action violence.” I actually thought that this movie was less violent than the previous films in the series. There was some swearing but not a huge amount. If your kids have seen the other films, they will definitely be okay seeing this one.
If the filmmakers decide to make any other Transformers films, I hope they make them just like this one. I loved Bumblebee and can highly recommend it.
