Aquaman Film Review~ Now Playing In Theaters!! #Aquaman

I attended an advance screening of this film.  All opinions are my own.

“From Warner Bros. Pictures and director James Wan comes an action-packed adventure that spans the vast, visually breathtaking underwater world of the seven seas,”Aquaman,” starring Jason Momoa in the title role. The film reveals the origin story of half-human, half-Atlantean Arthur Curry and takes him on the journey of his lifetime–one that will not only force him to face who he really is, but to discover if he is worthy of who he was born to be… a king.”-©Warner Bros.

I have been sort of excited to see Aquaman. Although I didn’t love Justice League, I thought that Jason Momoa was great as Aquaman. I wanted to see if amovie with just this character would be any good. Overall, Aquaman was just okay.

I thought the look of the movie was amazing. I thought that the look and design of Atlantis was very creative. The visual effects in the movie are top notch.

I thought Jason Momoa was fine as Aquaman. He does not have the best acting skills but he is funny and does great with the action scenes. In my opinion, that is all he really needed to do for the role. I thought the best actors in the movie were Amber Heard and Willem Dafoe. They were great as Mera and Vulko.

I thought the storyline had too much going on.  There were three different storylines in the film. As the viewer, it was a lotto keep track of and made the movie feel too long. The movie runs at 2 and 1/2 hours. It needed to be about 1/2 an hour shorter.

Aquamanis rated PG-13 “for sequences of sci-fi action violence and action, and for some language.” This movie did have some violence and language but I thought it was less violent than some of the other movies in the DC movie franchise. If your kids have seen the other DC films, they should be okay seeing this one.

Overall, Aquaman is not DC’s best film, but it is not the worst. I think Aquaman fans will be pleased but the casual DC movie viewer may be a bit disappointed. I do think it was worth seeing though, just maybe for a matinee or bargain night price.

Aquaman is now playing in theaters!!!
