No matter the kind of a trip we’ll be taking in the future, whether it’s a family vacation or a spontaneous business trip, packing last-minute is always stressful. While it may seem like an impossible task to pack everything you need in such a short amount of time, the action is doable!
Don’t worry and take a deep breath. This is how to beat the stress of last-minute travel packing:
Choose the correct type of travel bag
If you would also like to look stylish during your trip, consider buying a leather overnight bag which will not only add sophistication to your style, but you’ll also enjoy packing your stuff into a beautiful leather bag. ”
Use packing organizers
Because we’re short on time we will have- the tendency to throw everything into our luggage. Instead of doing this, we should maximize space with organizers since doing so not only saves time finding the personal belongings we need, it keeps our luggage tidy and makes nesting at our future lodging accommodation a lot easier.
Create a list of everything to bring
When in a panic, we may forget to pack certain items since our mind is thinking of ten different things at once. In order to decrease that panic or the likelihood of leaving behind something important, making a list of everything that is necessary to bring is essential. By knowing what you need to bring, you can then pack accordingly and know for a fact you have everything you need! If flying, don’t forget to check the baggage policy. Lastly, don’t worry too much if you forget something – it happens! You can always purchase items at your destination.
Pack as minimally as possible
When you pack minimally, you have fewer things to worry about. A good rule of thumb is to never pack more than a week’s worth of clothes unless you are staying at a destination for a few months. Just do your laundry at the place you’re staying! With that in mind, choose to pack clothes that are versatile and multipurpose for all sorts of weather. Take jackets, for example. They’re the bulkiest item in your suitcase. Bring one that can handle cold weather, but at the same time keep you comfortable when the sun is out. Furthermore, have your clothes follow a color palette or seamlessly complement one another. Regardless of what clothing combination you choose on a certain day, you can rest assured knowing that it will look put-together. Finally, leave behind irreplaceable and valuable items at home; they are never necessary to bring.
Make the most out of time left to pack
To make the most out of the time left you, create and follow a schedule that encourages you to pack certain items at a specific time. For example, start off with tackling the most important items first: travel documents and identification. Doing so can give you an hour or two to find them, process them, or make multiple copies of their evidence, in comparison to the five seconds it will take to pull underwear and socks from the drawer.
Find ways to make the packing process less stressful
While initially stressful and anxiety-inducing, packing last minute does not need to be any more stressful than it is already. There are many ways to diminish stress! For example, play your favorite music in the background, sing along to it, and don’t be ashamed to be silly and dance to the beat. If listening to music isn’t your preferred method of relaxing, another example would be to implement the use of a diffuser to fill the room with the calming scents of essential oils such as lavender, peppermint, or lemongrass.
Ultimately, while packing last-minute can be extremely stressful, it does not have to be impossible or the worst scenario in the world. As long as we stay calm, strategically plan our every move before the trip, and make the most out of minimal luggage, all that’s left for us is to sit back and relax the rest of it!
