I am all about replacing my usual household cleaning items with a healthier, more natural product. My stipulation though, is that it has to work just as well (or better, of course). I was sent some castile soap from Carolina Castile Soap to review, and I was excited to put it to the test!
“The history of Castile Soap originates from the Castile Region of Spain. Castile Soap started off to mean strictly a soap made from Olive Oil. Castile liquid soap has evolved to refer to any soap made from the saponification of vegetable oils. You will notice that although all of our Castile soaps contain olive oil, they also all contain coconut and any combination of other vegetable oils. Coconut oil gives soap a nice bubbly lather and is great for cleaning. We add in other oils for conditioning purpose and to give our soap body. We especially love to use cocoa butter in our soap. All of our soaps contain either mostly or all organic oils.”
If you frequent Pinterest, you have probably seen multiple pins about the many uses of castile soap. From body wash to bathroom cleaner, castile soap is truly a multipurpose soap that everyone should have in their home. I was especially excited to try the natural soap from Carolina Castile Soap because they have several different scents to choose from. They were kind enough to send me their 8 oz.
variety pack and their 16 oz. variety pack, and I love the scents that were included. The four scents are: Lavender, Orange, Tea Tree, and Peppermint. I really appreciate having the different scents because I can choose the best one depending on what I will be using the soap for.
The first thing I did with my castile soap from Carolina Castile soap, is make hand soap. It was so simple to grab a foaming soap dispenser, fill it 3/4 of the way with water, and putting in a few squirts of soap. I chose to use the Tea Tree soap because tea tree oil is a natural antibacterial. Each of the soaps from Carolina Castile Soap is filled with awesome ingredients that are natural and healthy for my family including:
- Organic Olive Oil
- Organic Pumpkin Seed Oil (in Tea Tree scent)
- Organic & Fair Trade Cocoa Butter
- Organic Coconut Oil
- Organic Tea Tree Essential Oil
- Citric Acid
- Potassium Hydroxide
- Tocopherol (Vitamin E)
- Water
If that list of ingredients doesn’t make you happy……I don’t know what will! Now that I have my hand soap made, I am planning to try out some kitchen cleaner, body wash for my kids (to replace their usual, drying bar soap), and possibly some laundry detergent. There are so many recipes out there to make your own home and bath products, and Carolina Castile Soap is the perfect liquid castile soap to use for them! A little goes a long way and you will definitely love knowing that you are creating a healthy environment for your family!
