While most people love to play games, very few appreciate the “art” that goes into their creation. This is because, for the most part, the art is hidden in the background, secondary to game play. But a new game design company was tired of seeing the art of games taking a back seat to play…so they decided put artwork on equal footing.

The designers at Funnybone Toys want people to actually see, enjoy, and appreciate the art in their games. So in addition to creating fun and thought-provoking card games, they have also designed them to be visually stunning works of art. The first three games in the Funnybone Toys Color Series games are card games: Array®, CUBU®, and Spectrix®. These games combine a seamless blend of engaging play patterns, vibrant colors, and stunning graphics, designed to make both game players and store owners wanting to keep them in a place where they will be seen by everyone. In 2013, Funnybone Toys introduced two more products: Disruptus™ – The Game Designed to Open Every Mind and Arrazzles™ – Imagine, Build, Connect, and Play with Dazzling Arrays of Color.

In 2014, Funnybone Toys was very busy. The company added the game Funnybones that is billed as ‘The Oldest Game You’ve Never Played Yet’. This game challenges the player with 30 different eye-hand coordination skills. In addition, Funnybone Toys launched its sister company Funnybone Muse that commercializes gift and art products for the global market. But don’t be afraid to use these works of art – they are meant to be played! These challenging games also use good design to stimulate creativity and give players’ brains a workout. As an added bonus, younger players will develop a deep appreciation of color and develop a relationship with the different hues that exist in the world, while having so much fun they won’t even realize they are learning.

We are a game loving family, so we are obsessed with our new Funnybone Toys games! They are both so unique and fun and brought new life to our game nights! Juxtabo was a great game to follow the rules with, but also my boys had so much fun just making their own patterns and playing with the very brightly colored pieces. It really takes some thinking to create the card on the game board, and is such a great learning game! The Spectracube can be played 6 different ways, which is awesome so that each family can find the ones that they like best. I love how high quality these games are, and that all the pieces have a nice drawstring bag they go into- a mother’s best friend! These games would make fabulous gifts for any occasion, and are perfect for any family!
