Insidious 2 Movie Review ~ Now Playing in Theaters

insidious2-My husband and I saw Insidious: Chapter 2, now playing in theaters.  It is rated PG-13 so it is not suitable for kids under age 13;  I would definitely advise parental consent.

“The famed horror team of director James Wan and writer Leigh Whannell reunite with the original cast of Patrick Wilson, Rose Byrne, Lin Shaye and Ty Simpkins in Insidious: Chapter 2, a terrifying sequel to the acclaimed horror film, which follows the haunted Lambert family as they seek to uncover the mysterious childhood secret that has left them dangerously connected to the spirit world.”

A couple years ago we saw the 1st movie of this series, Insidious.  Insidious has a unique take on the horror genre and both of us enjoyed it.  We were excited to see chapter 2 of the series.  Insidious: Chapter 2 has most of the same characters from the 1st movie and starts off where the 1st one leaves off.  I love the unique elements of Insidious: Chapter 2.  Several of the characters leave their bodies to visit the spirit realm, a dark place that can leave them lost if they are not careful to find their way back.  Not only that, evil spirits can be like parasites, following the human spirits back into the real world, wrecking havoc and chaos on those they attach to.  There are some very good scares in this movie that will leave you on the edge of your seat.

Patrick Wilson returns as Josh Lambert, who has the ability to leave his body and venture into the spirit realm while he is sleeping.  An evil spirit, or parasite, attaches itself to him and follows him back into the real world. Paranormal investigators and the rest of the Lambert family must find a way to help Patrick find a way back to his body, while at the same time protecting themselves from the evil that comes into the real world.    Patrick Wilson and Rose Bryne, who plays Josh’s wife Renai Lambert both do excellent jobs reprising their roles from the 1st movie.

The movie is directed by James Wan and written by Leigh Whannell who reunite with the original cast of Patrick Wilson, Rose Byrne, Lin Shaye and Ty Simpkins.  Check out more at http://www.insidiousch2.com
