Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters Film Review~ Now Playing In Theaters!!

Based on the publishing phenomenon, PERCY JACKSON: SEA OF MONSTERS continues the young demigod’s epic journey to fulfill his destiny.  To save their world, Percy and his friends must find the fabled and magical Golden Fleece.  Embarking on a treacherous odyssey into the uncharted waters of the Sea of Monsters (known to humans as the Bermuda Triangle), they battle terrifying creatures, an army of zombies, and the ultimate Evil .-Official Website (C)

I am a big fan of both the Percy Jackson and the Olympians book series and I also liked the first film in the movie series The Lightning Thief.  I was pretty excited to see the new film based on the 2nd book in the series, Sea of Monsters.

I really enjoyed  Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters.  It follows the source material a little more this time around but not much.  Like the first movie, the movie and the book are pretty different.  Fans of the books are just going to have to know that the filmmakers of these movies are not going to be completely loyal to the source material.  In my opinion though, I feel that they are still are portraying the spirit and fun of the books on the screen.

I think that the cast did well again in this movie.  For me, the stand out was one of the new additions to the cast, Douglas Smith, as Tyson, a Cyclops who we discover is another son of Poseidon.  He is definitely the comic relief of the film.  I also liked seeing Stanley Tucci in the movie as Mr. D and Nathan Fillon as Hermes.  Although they do not appear for very long in the film, you can tell that they had fun doing the movie.

This is a great family film.  I feel that it would be appropriate for all kids to see.  There is nothing extremely scary and the violence is appropriate for the movie’s PG rating.

I really liked Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters and think that it would be a great movie for the whole family to see together!

Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters getting bragging rights!

Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters opens today in 3D and 2D theaters.  It is rated PG.  For more information about the movie, you can go to the movie’s official website.
