One of the most gratifying things is when your children come home from school and have learned new things that they are excited about. It causes them to ask questions and want to learn more at home. Having a project assigned to your child is another way to have children learn more outside of the classroom. A standard assignment by many teachers is the solar system project for them to create their solar system. But to create their own, they need to learn more about it and the parts within it. Here are a few good learning options.

Youtube
With the help of an adult, there is a lot of good information on Youtube. As a parent, you could get on beforehand to go through videos and find ones that you like. You could look for ones that have good visuals to get an accurate representation of the solar system but also has a lot of good information on the components of the solar system. If your child wanted to learn more about specific parts of the solar system for example Mars. There would be plenty of video options that would have extensive research and information on Mars that your child could watch and take notes about.
Books
Your child may have received some information from their teacher about the solar system in their textbook but that is not the only book to get more information for the project. The library within the school should have a good variety of books on the solar system. Another option would be to go to the public library which would also have plenty of books to choose from. Getting a few different books would give you more variety in your information and allow your child to learn more.
Crafts
A more hands-on approach would be for them to do a craft such as their solar system project. This makes them put what they have learned into action. Allowing them to make decisions about the color of the planets, the order of the planets, and how big their project should be. Some are good with retained information through being taught but for some putting it into action is where they shine. That is why projects are a large part of the education system to ensure that all kinds of learners are being catered to.
Telescope
Not all will have access to a telescope but if possible this is a great opportunity for your child to put some of their knowledge to work. If there is not a telescope that you have or could use, you may be able to go to a planetarium. Many colleges and museums have them that are open to the public. This would allow for a closer look at the night sky and give another perspective on the night sky.
Never Too Much Information
Once your child is excited about the things they are learning it is a great time to help them gain more knowledge on the topic. There are many ways to achieve this but all have the same goal to help your child learn. Youtube is full of information that is best navigated by an adult. Books are a great resource to be able to refer back to. Crafts are for those that do better hands-on and need to put action tho their learning. A fun activity could be to use a telescope or go to a planetarium to learn more about the night sky. All of these are great options to help your child learn more about the solar system and start on their project.
