Your child’s birthday party is a very special day for him or her. Not only do they get to receive presents, but they also get to be the center of attention for a day and be surrounded by their closest family or friends. While the day is exciting for your child, though, it can also be stressful for you. You need to find a place, decide on a theme, get a cake, make sure there are plenty of games, and keep everyone in line while the event is happening. But while there is a lot to do, being prepared can make it so much easier on you. Check out these seven items to never forget for your child’s next birthday party.
- Decorations
Whether your child is having a themed party or not, having decorations can make the event seem so much more exciting. This doesn’t mean you need to go crazy and decorate every inch of the place, but it does mean you should at least put up some balloons or streamers or something to make it extra special and feel more like a party. If your child is having a themed birthday party, you can easily decorate your home backyard by setting up a marquee tent to match that theme, whether it’s princesses, camping, beach, etc.
- Food
From snacks to main dishes, you need to ensure there is plenty of food on hand for everyone to enjoy. Kids will take more than they’ll actually eat too, so having plenty of extras is also a good idea. One way to combat this, though, is to look for foods that are available in single-serve options. For instance, Popcornopolis sells individually packaged popcorn that’s perfect for your party. Plus, there are plenty of flavors to choose from, so you can try the white cheddar option or stick with traditional flavor.
Aside from popcorn, be sure to think of other fun party-friendly foods that will go over well, such as cupcakes, hot dogs, pizza, or even sandwiches.
- Drinks
Besides food, you’ll want to have plenty of drinks on hand too, especially if the kids are doing activities at the party and working up a sweat. Having a variety can make this easier on you too. For instance, be sure to have juice, water, and/or sports drinks so kids have plenty of options to stay hydrated while partying hard. Having cold drinks is a must, so be sure to keep those drinks on ice. Speaking of cold, you can see available chiller rentals.
- Games
If you’re having a child’s party, the last thing you want to forget is the games and entertainment. This can be done in a variety of ways. For instance, if you’re having a theme party, you can align the games to go along with your theme, as this gives you an easy way to find plenty of entertainment for the kids. If you’re not having a theme party, just try to find the entertainment that children your child’s age would like, whether it’s watching movies to playing games to going swimming to even attending a baseball game. As long as you have a variety of entertainment options at the party, your child’s birthday will be a success.
- Goody Bags
While your guests will be excited to play with their friends, they’re even more excited to go home with a treat of their own. Be sure you pack up some goody bags to pass out to the kids when they leave the party. If you’re doing a theme, try to make your goody bag associated with the theme of the party. If you’re not doing a theme, then just give the kids a bunch of items you think they’d like, from little candy treats down to small game or stickers for additional entertainment.
- Cleaning Supplies
You are going to be dealing with a lot of children eating a lot of food and playing a lot of games, which means you’ll have a big mess to clean up when it’s all over. Be sure to have plenty of cleaning supplies on hand so you can tackle the mess as soon as the last child is gone for the day. Wipe down counters, clean your bathroom, and wash your floors are just a few good places to start. And while you’ll be exhausted once the party is over, getting it cleaned up will let you sit back and relax.
- Thank You Cards
Thank you cards are a great way for your child to say “thanks” to those who attended his or her party. Depending on your child’s age, he or she could either write these themselves or you can create bulk thank you cards and send them off to those who attended.
When you prepare for your child’s party with all these items, you’ll find yourself less stressed when the event begins.
