If you’ve recently given birth, you will know only too well how stressful the early stages of motherhood can be. Trying to juggle caring for your baby while having some time for yourself can be challenging, making it totally understandable that you put health and fitness on the backburner. If you’re looking to stay in shape, there are lots of tips that you can use to your advantage, helping to bring some balance back into your life. With that in mind, here are five tips for new moms to stay fit.
Find a Tribe
To give you the motivation and drive to succeed, it’s important that you find a community who can support you on your fitness journey. Whether you’ve recently given birth or you have multiple toddlers running around the house, having the right support of friends around you can be hugely beneficial for your physical and mental wellbeing. Becoming more social and being with those in the same boat as you can provide stress relief too.
Join a Gym with Childcare Services
If the idea of finding a tribe fills you with dread or you prefer to be alone, why not join a gym instead? There are lots of gyms that provide childcare services, meaning you can workout without having to worry about your child. Not only can you reach your fitness goals, but it will give your child the opportunity to socialize with others.
Value Your Time
When it comes to getting a good workout in, time management is key. If you aren’t the most organized of types, trying to cram in some exercise can be a challenge. To help make things easier, why not create a schedule that you can adhere to? There are lots of workouts you can do from the comfort of your own home too, which can enable you to cram in some exercise at any time of the day or night!
Get Outside
If you feel like you’re cooped up indoors, why not get outside and get some fresh air in your lungs? Getting out in the open can be great for everyone, especially for new moms as you’re able to have some much-needed time for yourself. Exploring the neighborhood or going for a jog with friends can give you some time for socializing too. If you can’t bear the thought of leaving your little one with others just yet, why not bring your baby along in a buggy?
Set Objectives & Goals
Setting goals from the outset can help you stay on the path to success. As a new mom, it’s always best to stick with short-term goals at first, as not only are they more accessible, but they enable you to see results too. Try not to take on too much at once, as you may be more prone to injury. If you’ve received an injury to your knee, for example, knowing the symptoms of a knee sprain should be your first port of call, helping you to decide whether to seek emergency care.
Finding a community for some much needed advice and support, joining a gym with childcare services to ensure your little one is always nearby, getting out in the fresh air and doing some exercise, as well as laying out clear objectives and goals are just a few key tips for new moms on how to stay fit and healthy.
