Tea parties will forever be a part of every little girl’s childhood. Even as adults, women get excited about attending a tea party, whether it be at an extravagant hotel offering afternoon tea or putting together an extravagant table setting with tea sandwiches and pastries at home. While adults can spend hours chatting over some tea, little girls aren’t quite the same. To keep them busy, you’ll have to involve a few activities at the table. Here are a few suggestions for your little girl’s upcoming birthday tea party.
Attire
The dress code will depend on the theme of your party and whether it’s inside or outside. For an outdoor summer tea party, little girl’s summer dresses can be found in every color, with lots of choices for pastel and bright colored dresses. Different cuts such as flowy midi length or short puffy dresses paired with lace tea gloves, will keep them cool on a warm sunny day while still achieving a dressed-up look. For cooler months, skirts with layers of tulle and fur coats with tea party gloves can give little ones all the glitz and glam of their dreams. Make sure you highlight any specific attire request on the invitations.
Party Favors
Atr each table setting, leave a tea party hat that the girls can wear during the party and then take home with them as one of their party favors. As an activity, you could also buy plain hats and have them decorate them. Set up a tea party hat station with ribbons, lace, and an assortment of artificial flowers, pearls, and rhinestones and let the girls have at it. You can do the same with tea party gloves, and then include a bag of goodies as a thank you for attending.
Photography
It would be a shame for all of the party’s esthetics, activities, and cute outfits to go unseen. Creating photos is the best way to remember special events. Invest in a photographer to take pictures of the girls and their cute outfits, the amazing table setting, the activity stations, and any other miscellaneous shots. The prettiest backdrops make it possible to get the best pictures at parties. The backdrop can be a balloon garland, a treat table, a neon sign against a wall, or a personalized banner.
Before you can start planning, you’ll need to stick to a theme so everything else can fall into place. For stress-free party planning make sure you make a decision on the theme as soon as you can.
Table Setting
Again, depending on your theme and colors, you will want your table setting to set the tone for the party. If using pastels, buy flowers in bunches so it’s more budget friendly and also gives you the ability to create your own floral arrangements. There will be spills so choose table linens that aren’t expensive. You can get disposable plates and flatware that are still elegant if you’re nervous about the girls using your breakable dishes. Along with setting the table, you should also include different tea pots with a few different teas so that the girls can enjoy a flavor they actually like. It’s a good idea to include the tea choices on the invitation so they can rsvp with the flavors they would like.
Activities
Along with the tea party hat and glove station, you can also include a teapot or teacup painting station, or a sugar cookie or cupcake decorating station as a treat to enjoy with their tea. For more ideas on fun activities, you’ll want to go over your theme and include fun things for the girls to do based on that.
