Diet
One of the main things is diet. For younger kids, this is obviously easier to control. You’ll likely be cooking their meals and preparing their snacks, so you can control what they are eating and when most of the time. You’ll want to make sure that they are getting a little of everything. As much of a variety of whole foods as possible is what you want to go for here. With older kids you have less control, but you should still try and encourage them in the right ways. If you can do that, it will make a difference over time.
Exercise
This is usually a fair bit easier to get your children to do, mostly because they are probably going to have some kind of enjoyment of it anyway. Most kids enjoy running around outside and it’s therefore simply a case of encouraging this as best as you can. You might also be able to get them to workout more by encouraging them to join gymnastics classes for kids and the like. That’s a great way to ensure that there is a regular reason to move around, and it will help their health considerably.
Hydration
It might sound simple and obvious, but it’s vital too that your kids are drinking enough water. If you think that they might not be, then this is something that you will definitely want to bear in mind here, and it’s important that you are going to be keeping on top of this. One simple way is to ensure that they are carrying a bottle of water with them at school. You will find that they naturally start to drink more and that it becomes a habit, which is what you really want to happen. And the health benefits of this are quite considerable on the whole.
Support
In terms of mental health, one of the main things your kids need is lots of support. If you can provide them with this, you’re going to find that they are much more likely to have good, strong mental health. That also tends to feed into physical wellbeing too, so it’s important to make sure that you are aware of that as well. All in all, providing them with support is one of the main things you can do as a parent which is really going to help them.
