“In this heart pounding action-thriller, Kevin Costner is a dangerous international spy, who is determined to give up his high stakes life to finally build a closer relationship with his estranged wife and daughter, whom he’s previously kept at arm’s length to keep out of danger. But first, he must complete one last mission- even if it means juggling the two toughest assignments yet: hunting down the world’s most ruthless terrorist and looking after his teenage daughter for the first time in ten years, while his wife is out of town.” (c) Relativity
I really did not know what to except from 3 Days To Kill. I was hoping for an intense, action thriller. I am not sure how intense this movie really was but it definitely had a lot of action.
This movie had a lot going on in its storyline. It is an action movie also mixed with quite a bit of comedy. Sometimes, I wasn’t sure what the kind of movie that filmmakers were trying to make. An action or a comedy.
In the movie, Kevin Costner plays a spy that is diagnosed with a chronic illness. After he retires from the CIA, he is offered one last mission. In exchange for completing this mission, he is offered an experimental drug that will expand the amount of time he has left before he dies. In the movie, Kevin Costner’s character has a rocky relationship with his estranged wife and his now teenage daughter. He is left alone to be with his daughter for a few days. During this time, he is also trying to complete his mission. Some funny moments happen as he is trying to juggle these two different things in his life. Some of the best moments of the movie were when Kevin Costner’s character was interacting with his daughter played by Hailee Steinfeld. I thought that they portrayed a believable father-daughter relationship.
For me, I thought that Kevin Costner really did well as an action hero. It was fun to see him in this type of role. I just wished that the storyline would have been a bit better. It just seemed like the story had a lot of senseless killing without a storyline or a reason behind it.
This movie was a lot more violent than I thought it was going to be. There is a lot of shooting and blood. It definitely deserves its PG-13 rating. Honestly, my husband and I were surprised that it was not rated R. Little kids definitely need to stay home for this one.
Personally, I didn’t love this movie but I heard other people at my screening say that they liked it. It is really action packed and had some fun comedic moments.
