I attended an advanced screening for my review. All opinions are my own.
“From Marvel Studios comes “Doctor Strange,” the story of world-famous neurosurgeon Dr. Stephen Strange whose life changes forever after a horrific car accident robs him of the use of his hands. When traditional medicine fails him, he is forced to look for healing, and hope, in an unlikely place—a mysterious enclave known as Kamar-Taj. He quickly learns that this is not just a center for healing but also the front line of a battle against unseen dark forces bent on destroying our reality. Before long Strange—armed with newly acquired magical powers—is forced to choose whether to return to his life of fortune and status or leave it all behind to defend the world as the most powerful sorcerer in existence.” –©Marvel Studios
I am a big fan of the movies in the Marvel franchise and I have been so excited to see DOCTOR STRANGE. My husband and I both loved this movie.
Before seeing the film, I knew who Doctor Strange was but I was not as familiar with his story as much as some of the other Marvel characters. I thought that this movie gave a great introduction to the character of Doctor Strange for those not familiar with him.
The cast in this movie is fantastic. I am a huge Benedict Cumberbatch fan and I was thrilled when he was cast as the main character. He did not disappoint. He was perfect for this part. I am so excited to see him in future Marvel movies. I thought Tilda Swinton was great playing the role of the Ancient One. I knew that there had been some controversy with her casting but I thought she was great. I thought Rachel McAdams was great in the role of Christine Palmer, Doctor Strange’s love interest. I wish she would have been used more in the film. Hopefully she will be in any future Doctor Strange films.
This movie is a very fast paced film. With a running of just barely two hours, it is a very appropriate length. I was entertained the whole time.
This movie was a visual marvel, the visual effects do not disappoint. This movie honestly has some of the best visual effects I have ever seen in a film. The way the filmmakers bend reality in the film is just amazing. I had the opportunity to view the movie in IMAX 3D. Seeing the effects in this format were pretty cool.
This movie is rated PG-13 “for sci-fi violence and action throughout, and an intense crash sequence”. DOCTOR STRANGE is very similar in the amount of violence and scary moments as previous Marvel films. If your kids have seen the others films in the Marvel franchise, they would probably be okay with seeing this one.
I loved Marvel’s DOCTOR STRANGE and will definitely be seeing it again. It was fantastic.
