“Based on the bestselling novel by master storyteller Nicholas Sparks, THE LONGEST RIDE centers on the star-crossed love affair between Luke, a former champion bull rider looking to make a comeback, and Sophia, a college student who is about to embark upon her dream job in New York City’s art world. As conflicting paths and ideals test their relationship, Sophia and Luke make an unexpected and fateful connection with Ira, whose memories of his own decades-long romance with his beloved wife deeply inspire the young couple. Spanning generations and two intertwining love stories, THE LONGEST RIDE explores the challenges and infinite rewards of enduring love.” (C) Fox
I have been a fan of the movies based on Nicholas Sparks’ novels but I have been disappointed with the last few that have been released in theaters. I honestly went into The Longest Ride with low expectations. After viewing the film, I am happy to say that it is one of the better Nicholas Sparks films.
One thing that I liked about this movie was that there was more than one story line. This movie alternates between a modern day story line and a post World War 2 era story. I personally connected and was more interested in the older era story line that the modern day one. One flaw of the story is that the main story line is pretty predictable. Overall though, this movie was a sweet, romantic story.
I thought that the cast was pretty good in this movie. My favorite was seeing Alan Alda as the older Ira. I never thought I would see him in a Nicholas Sparks movie but he did a great job.
This movie deserves it’s PG-13 rating. There is some language, nudity, and some violence. This movie would probably be appropriate for older teenagers (especially if they have seen other Nicholas Sparks movies). This movie would be great for a girls’ night out.
I really enjoyed The Longest Ride and would watch it again.
The Longest Ride gets bragging rights!!!
