We attended an advanced screening for my review. All opinions are my own.
Dreamworks HOME is now playing in theaters!
This movie is one my kids have been asking to see since the trailers started playing on TV. I have to admit the trailers even had me excited to see it.
“An optimistic yet inept alien race called the Boov led by Captain Smek (Steve Martin) invade the Earth to hide from their mortal enemy and make it their new home. Convinced that they are doing humans a favor, they begin to relocate them to Australia. A resourceful teenage girl named Tip (Rihanna), manages to avoid capture. When on the run and looking for the location of her mother Lucy (Jennifer Lopez), she is accompanied by a banished Boov named Oh (Jim Parsons) who has accidentally notified his people’s enemies of their whereabouts.”– Dreamworks
Here are my cute kiddos waiting for the movie to start! Yep, we saw it in 3D.
We all really enjoyed this movie. It is cute, fun, funny and has a nice message about family and friendship. My 7 year old really liked the humor in the movie, like Oh drinking the “lemonade” from the toilet. My 2 year old liked the music (so did I, it’s really great) and the silly humor. They even threw in some jokes for the adults that had the parents laughing. It was an entertaining movie and I enjoyed the unique ideas and elements in it.
The cast: I love Jim Parsons (Sheldon from the Big Bang Theory) and I was excited to see him play Oh. He did not disappoint! He is fantastic as Oh and very funny. He is very similar to his character Sheldon which I really like. The cast also included Rihanna as Gratuity “Tip” Tucci, Steve Martin as Captain Smeck, and Jennifer Lopez as Lucy (Tip’s mom). I think they all did a really great job in their roles.
We saw it in 3D and it was fun. Although if you are debating whether or not to see it in 3D, I would just go with 2D. I don’t think it will make a big difference either way, it didn’t have any wow 3D effects that make it so you HAVE to see it that way.
This is a fun family movie that all ages will enjoy! Take your family to see it this weekend!
