I was invited by Disney on an all expenses paid trip to cover the #CaptainAmericaEvent. I attended an advanced screening of this film. I also received a Disney Store gift card to purchase something from their new personalization shop. All opinions are my own.
“Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War” finds Steve Rogers leading the newly formed team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. But after another incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability, headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers, resulting in two camps—one led by Steve Rogers and his desire for the Avengers to remain free to defend humanity without government interference, and the other following Tony Stark’s surprising decision to support government oversight and accountability. Get ready to pick a side and join the nonstop action playing out on two fronts when Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War” opens in U.S. theaters on May 6, 2016.“-Marvel
While I was in LA for the #CaptainAmericaEvent I was able to see Captain America Civil War at an early screening. I am totally #TeamIronMan. I was going into seeing the movie, and I still am after seeing it. One thing I really like is that the movie doesn’t lay out a clear choice but rather shows both sides, it remains unbiased. I loved this movie and it was actually my favorite Captain America/Avengers movie to date. It is action packed and definitely a must see in theaters!
One of my favorite parts of the movie is the introduction of Spider-Man. We are huge Spider-Man fans in our house and we were thrilled when we saw him in the trailer. I love how his character is introduced, how he acts, everything about him. He is so great, and provides a lot of laughs along with Iron Man. (Which is one of the biggest reasons I love Iron Man, his humor).
If your kids have seen the other Captain America/Avengers movies then they are totally okay to see this movie as well. When in doubt, you can always see it first and then decide based on your child.
Also, our reviewer Nicole who is #TeamCap recently attended an early screening as well. Here are her thoughts on the movie:
“I am a huge fan of superhero movies, especially the Marvel films. I have been so excited to see CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR. The Captain America movies are definitely my favorites in the Marvel universe. I am definitely Team Cap all the way. I was not disappointed at all after watching CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR. It was fantastic and everything that I hoped it would be.
Everything about this movie was done well. The storyline of this movie is great. This movie had a great balance of seriousness and humor. I have loved how all of the Marvel movies have all connected together. If you have not seen any of the Marvel movies, especially Avengers: Age of Ultron, you will probably want to catch up or you will be somewhat lost watching CIVIL WAR.
The cast, once again, is superb. I loved that so many other superheroes and Avengers members were used in this film. There is a definitely more focus on Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. as Captain America and Iron Man though. Both of their performance are definitely the key to the success of the film. My only disappointment is that Martin Freeman was not used more as Agent Everett Ross. I really hope he is used more in future Marvel films.
Visually, the effects in this film were great. I had the opportunity to see the movie in IMAX 3D. I thought it was great watching the movie in this format but the 3D did make me a little motion sick, especially during the close action fight scenes.
This movie is PG-13 “for extended scenes of violence, action, and mayhem.” This movie is as violent and scary as the previous Marvel universe films. If your children have seen any of the previous movies, they will be okay watching this one.
I loved CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR. I will definitely be seeing it again and will be owning it when it is available on Blu-ray & Digital in the future. This is a definite must see movie.”-Nicole Brimley (writer/reviewer for thebraggingmommy.com)
